On a high performing commercial pig farm (UK), Axcelera-P was offered to pre-weaning pigs from sows in the farrowing house and compared to a new proprietary pre-weaning gel system & pre-starter.
The piglets were measured for weight at birth, 10 days of age, at weaning and when they exited the nursery (33 days after weaning). The whole trial lasted 59 days.
At weaning, Axcelera-P delivered a significantly greater weaning weight (an extra 400g) than the piglets fed the pre-weaning gel followed by a pre-starter from day 11 to weaning.
After weaning both sets of piglets were offered the same starter feed.
Upon exit of the nursery, there was a significant difference between Axcelera-P and the gel system /pre-starter performance, where Axcelera-P gave an extra 2kg out of the nursery.
This confirms again that offering up to 150g of Axcelera-P per piglet in the farrowing house has a significantly positive impact on subsequent growth rates. Previous trials have shown that this measurable 'accelerator effect' out of the nursery goes on to deliver even greater lifetime performance when compared against a standard pre-starter.
